Patricia Arquette Calls For Gender Equality In Powerful Oscars Acceptance Speech

The greatest day of 2015 is here, friends – the Oscars are currently underway, making every single other human’s current pursuit on the planet pale in comparison. Give up, everybody. It’s AWARDS SEASON!

The most deserving and most predictable win of the night has already gone down – Patricia Arquette was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her breathtaking performance as a single mother guiding her son through the trials of boyhood, in Richard Linklater‘s sprawling 12-year-epic, ‘Boyhood’. Arquette has been picking up gongs for her performance left right and centre since awards season began, after picking up the same award at the Golden Globes last month. Her acceptance speech than was full of the usual thankful suspects; today’s acceptance speech was far bolder.

Patricia Arquette called for gender equality and equal pay in her acceptance speech, saying: “To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

PREACH.
