Jesus Is Returning For A ‘Passion Of The Christ’ Sequel & We Have Questions

If there was ever a film crying out for a sequel, it was clearly The Passion of the Christ. Directed by domestic abuser and racial slur enthusiast Mel Gibson, the 2004 biblical epic primarily told the story of the final hours of Jesus‘ life, finishing with his death and subsequent resurrection – arguably the most interesting parts of his life (carpenters may disagree). It appears the story isn’t quite done though, with Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in the first film, reprising his role in what he describes as the “the biggest film in history“.

In an interview with USA Today, Cavaziel indicated that the film would focus on Jesus’ resurrection, which from my hazy recollections of Bible study, consists mainly of a few brief illusory appearances Jesus makes to his mates before shooting on up (?) into Heaven to hang out with God (who he partially is) for eternity.

Caviezel seems stoked as about it:

There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience,” he said. “I won’t tell you how he’s going to go about it. But I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.

All he would reveal about the film so far is that they’ve scheduled a filming time, but he won’t say when.

Personally, I hope we finally see an iteration of Jesus on the silver screen that isn’t afraid to use Hapkido to get revenge on the Pharisees.
