Pass Go, Collect $200: The Monopoly Movie Is Happening

From the board game that ruined a thousand friendships, we bring you: Monopoly, the movie.

It’s happening, folks.

Hasbro have been trying to get this off the ground since 2009, so it’s time to Pass Go, Collect $200, celebrate with a bank error in your favour, etc.

The plot will centre on a boy from the second worst property (Baltimore) on his journey to riches and power, presumably by loading up the dark blues with hotels because that shit is vindictive.

Andrew Nicol, who wrote that absolute classic ‘The Truman Show‘, will be penning this one. Co-President of Lionsgate Motion Picture GroupErik Feig, called him “the ultimate world creator”.

“He is an inspired choice to develop this timeless property into a big, crowd-pleasing event film that will appeal to kids, families, and anyone who has ever played the Monopoly game,” Feig said. Which, as it turns out, is over 1 billion people. Whelp.

No release dates / casting / directing yet, but fingers crossed for finding out which total prick nabbed first place in the beauty contest.
