Paris Hilton Says She’s The Opposite Of Her “Spoiled Airhead” Character On ‘The Simple Life’

OG reality TV queen Paris Hilton has once again spilled the tea on The Simple Life and her experience playing a “spoiled airhead” character for five seasons of the hit television show.

In an interview on supermodel Naomi Campbell’s YouTube show No Filter, Paris explained how her “spoiled airhead” persona was essentially crafted with the help of the show’s producers, and is the complete opposite of the IRL Paris.

“I think it definitely all came about with The Simple Life. Just creating this character, because it was one of the first reality shows and the producers told me ‘we want you play up this character of this kind of spoiled airhead,’” she told Campbell in the episode. “It was my first show. I’d never been on TV before. I had no idea what to expect. So I had to continue doing that character for five seasons, because I didn’t know the show would go on for so long. So I think that people assume that’s who I really am in life when I’m actually quite the opposite.”

Honestly, when is this woman going to get the recognition for her Oscar-worthy performance? THIS is acting.

Later in the chat, she further elaborated on how The Simple Life has led people to misconstrue who she truly is.

“There’s definitely so many misconceptions that it’s hard to really list them all,” Paris said. “From The Simple Life, everyone assumes that’s who I am because that’s how the world was introduced to me. So they assume ‘oh, she’s spoiled, she’s dumb, she’s this, she’s that.’”

Paris also went on to acknowledge that despite coming from a privileged family, her parents instilled a strong work ethic in her and her siblings.

“I feel very proud. I’ve worked so hard. I think I really learned that from my family,” she said. “Teaching me strong work ethic, which I think is so important, especially when you’re from a privileged family. It’s so easy to spoil your children and my parents never did that with my sister and I and my brothers, and always wanted us to work hard and make something of ourselves. So I’m very lucky that I was raised that way.”

A strong work ethic? That’s hot.

She may not be the ditzy airhead we saw on The Simple Life, but Hilton (now 39) isn’t one to deny her party girl phase.

Throughout the interview, she also dished the dirt on some of her more wild younger days, including sneaking out at night to attend parties and that time she flew across the country for *that* now-iconic David LaChapelle photoshoot for Vanity Fair without telling her parents.

Ahh, remember when we were allowed to leave the house? Talk about a throwback. If you’re missing the pub, you can at least live vicariously through these stories.
