Paris Hilton Reshared An Interview From 2011 & It Shows Just How Badly The Media Treated Her

Since the #FreeBritney movement the general public are turning their attention to stars like Paris Hilton who were notoriously mistreated in the public eye. Recently, Hilton has called this out on social media and it’s shocking how much flak she’s copped over the years.

Paris reshared a 2011 radio interview on Instagram where she was constantly undermined and belittled. The men interviewing her refused to ask any questions about what she was actually there for and instead focussed on trivial gossip like her previous feud with Lindsey Lohan. Throughout the interview Paris is visibly uncomfortable, but the hosts make her feel like she’s the problem.

Watch until the end, because the way the hosts talk about Paris when she leaves is truly disgusting.

In the IG caption of the video she wrote:

“I will never forget the feeling I felt in that room. It’s something I had to go through on too many occasions. It makes me so angry and sad to watch. Sad that I had to continue to put on a brave face and be polite while hurting so much inside.”

A number of celebrities showed Paris their support in the comments, with many condemning the toxic masculinity in the entertainment industry. Some of those celebs include: Selma Blair, Meghan Trainor, Jess Hart and even Snooki.

“I forced myself to watch through to the end because you had to experience this. Over and over,” Blair wrote.

“Girl, i feel this on soooo many levels. Appreciate you,” Snooki said.

On a recent podcast episode of This is Paris, Paris and Nicky Hilton discuss a resurfaced David Letterman interview from 2007. Paris was on the show to promote her perfume, but David Letterman keeps pestering her about her time in jail instead. They also discuss how Sarah Silverman publicly humiliated Paris at the MTV Music Awards of that same year.

The world is changing and women are no longer accepting mistreatment as a ‘normal’ part of being a female celebrity. As a kid it was super confusing to be told that I should look up to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, but at the same time watch them get slaughtered by the media.

The message it sends is that whatever you do, women have been set up to fail. You can be the richest, hottest, most famous superstar in the world and people will do anything they can to tear you down. And it’s those same people that gave these women the platform to begin with.

I’m glad the world is changing, and I hope that young women know that they can stand up for themselves and not have to face the same scrutiny as someone like Paris Hilton.
