OMG: Willem Dafoe Will Voice Ryuk The Shinigami In Netflix’s ‘Death Note’

Manga fans rejoice! Netflix have decided to make an adaption of iconic anime ‘Death Note’, which will apparently hit screens next year.
But, even huger news: Mashable has learned that Willem DaFoe has signed on, and will voice Ryuk the Shinigami – the renegade apple-loving demon who drops a ‘death note’ on Earth in order to amuse himself and cure his boredom.
The iconic manga ‘Death Note’ is about a high school student Light Yagami who comes across a supernatural book that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name in it while picturing their face. Much to amusement of Ryuk, Yagami becomes drunk with power, and begins killing every person that he deems unworthy to live.
Roy Lee (‘The Ring’) and Dan Lin (‘Sherlock Holmes) are producing the ‘Death Note’ adaption for Netflix, and voices announced so far include Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi and Shea Whigham.
HUGE.
“Humans are *SO* interesting.”
