Olivia Munn Says She Had To Fork Out Her Own Dosh To Cameo In ‘Ocean’s 8’

The upcoming ‘Ocean’s Eight‘ spinoff/sequel stars an unbelievably massive array of absolutely gorgeous and talented women like Rihanna, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne HathawaySarah Paulson and Mindy Kaling. Phew.

I personally cannot wait. I have not seen any of the other ‘Oceans‘ films, but who cares. Sign me up right bloody now.

It’s an absolutely massive cast, and it features a long list of very famous main actors, all signed up to star in the franchise that has earned hundreds of millions of dollars. So it isn’t surprising that established actors are willing to feature in the film in smaller parts. It is surprising, however, that they might be doing so at their own expense.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly Radio, ‘X-Men‘ star Olivia Munn has claimed that this is exactly what her experience on the film was, after she filmed a cameo role as an attendee of the Met Gala.

It actually cost me money to be part of ‘Ocean’s Eight‘. There’s a whole scene at the Met Ball and they were like, oh, do your own glam. So I got the dress and all that and usually you submit the bills for it because I’m part of your movie. And they were like, oh, no, the bills come right back to you.

That is pretty ballsy of the production to ask, considering the franchise has made just so much goddamn money, but Munn reckons she was still happy to be part of the groundbreaking film that is giving women in the industry a huge boost.

It’s going to be amazing. You see all these guys who keep falling up. They do crappy movie after crappy movie, and they keep getting more chances.  If you’ve got a female lead or a female director, you’ve got one shot.

The movie, which comes out next year, sees the estranged sister of Danny Ocean, played by Sandy B, try to pull off a heist at the Met Gala.

It seems like Olivia Munn had a bit of a heist pulled against her, but honestly I would pay a lot of money to be in the same room as Rihanna.
