Disgraced Influencer Olivia Jade Fact-Checked Gossip Girl For Name-Dropping Her In The Reboot

The Gossip Girl reboot is here and it’s brought the iconic series into 2021 with new terminology, new social media apps, and new pop culture references. For example, in the first episode, the ladies mention that disgraced influencer Olivia Jade “gained more followers after her mum went to prison.”

After spotting her mention in the episode, Olivia Jade has responded on social media with a fact-check.

As spotted by Pop Crave, the disgraced influencer shared a TikTok where she reacted to the scene, saying “no I didn’t,” as in no she didn’t gain followers, which is true. She actually lost heaaaaaaps. And not only did she lose followers, but she also lost many brand endorsement deals.

It was… not great for her career.

Noticing the response from Olivia Jade, Gossip Girl creator Joshua Safran shared the TikTok on his Twitter and wrote, “Ok, my bad.”

SCREAMING.

Last year, Full House star Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges after getting sprung in the College Admissions Scandal.

They were accused of paying (USD)$500,000 to get Olivia Jade and her sister, Isabella Rose Giannulli, into the University of Southern California as fake crew team recruits.

After the news went viral, Olivia Jade lost not just Instagram followers, but brand endorsement deals with major companies like Sephora, who swiftly released the following statement: “After careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately.”

In addition, online fashion retailer Lulus also said it has no plans to work with Olivia Jade again.

“Lulus has not worked with Olivia Jade since August 2018 and we have no plans to do so in the future,” Colleen Winter, co-founder and CEO of Lulus, said in a statement.

Plus her Instagram and YouTube channel went dark for months after they became spammed with comments from her critics.

So yeah, that Gossip Girl reference definitely does not ring true here.

The Gossip Girl premiere is now streaming on BINGE, with new eps dropping weekly.
