Oh Generous One J.K. Rowling Confirms ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Will Be A Trilogy

Happy Harry Potter day for now and forever, HP nerds, because this franchise will literally never die, and in case you were wondering, that is a good thing.

We thought it might be over when the Deathly Hallows Part II film came out, but no.

First we got word of the Fantastic Beasts movie.

Then the Cursed Child play (and the subsequent book version, because forking out a ticket to London for the sole purpose of seeing a two-part play is steep as hell).

And now, we’ve got two more films to look forward to, because this very morning, J.K. Rowling confirmed that Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will be not just be one movie, nor will it be two, but it will be three – a trilogy! – and we will be consuming fresh Harry Potter content till the day we or she dies. May that be never.

While the news that J.K. is writing three screenplays is not new, it is the first time we’ve had proper confirmation that Fantastic Beasts – which is set in 1920s New York and follows Newt Scamander as he attempts to wrangle his many fantastic beasts back into his trunk, with a backdrop of Salem witch trials-style persecution – will be a trilogy.

Essentially, it means that we’ve finally got the Harry Potter film series we deserved: Oscar-quality acting from Eddie Redmayne (who’s playing the titular character), a script written by J.K. herself, and none of this ‘major discrepancies from the books’ bullshit:

This thing’s scheduled to drop into theatres this November, so have a very Harry Christmas, y’all.
