Things that are most definitely not a drill, but maybe should be, judging from its debut song: The OC Musical.
From the people who breathed new life into the classic exercise in youth hedonism, Cruel Intentions, via an onstage musical—to great success—’The OC’ is officially receiving a Broadway-esque reincarnation that nobody particularly asked for, but which will most certainly be eaten right up.
For a show whose soundtrack straight up shaped the musical tastes of our/your teenage years, the move doesn’t, it should be said, not make sense. And the performance, according to its creators, will be a one-off, where a theatre will be transformed into the Bait Shop.
Yes! This is a real thing. We’re turning LA into The Bait Shop for one night only. All your favorite songs from the show.

As for the accompanying original songs, a teaser into the musical’s ~vibe~ has already been released. correction: this theatre’s take on The OC in musical form *could* be something to go by.
To be fair, though, and judgments for whatever that actually was aside, this take on the OC Musical might be getting some things right.

But then again, there’s also going to be a Josh Schwartz (creator of ‘The OC’, and ‘Gossip Girl‘, among others) character thrown in among your Marissa, Ryan, Seth, Summer, Luke, Trey, Kristin and Sandy; an addition of meta proportions that can not, and will not, be dealt with.
The OC Musical is going down on August 30 in the States; location TBD.
