If you’re feeling a wee bit down this Monday, allow an Instagram dedicated entirely to Connell Waldron‘s chain to breathe some life into your new week.
There’s really no other way of describing this IG account, it is literally pictures of Connell (Paul Mescal), from Normal People, in various positions with his necklace on full display.
I’ve stupidly decided to read the book first before watching the series, but my copy of Normal People has yet to arrive. So I don’t know anything about Connell, save for the fact that many people are thirsting over the chain around his neck. Quite the handsome lad though, tell ya what.
Chains on its own? Not a fan. Chain on Connell? Art.

Despite only having nine pictures up, @connellschain has already racked up an impressive 14,000 followers.
Meanwhile, the show has copped a bit of backlash in Ireland, where it’s set, on local radio show Liveline. Folks aren’t happy that the show’s so horny.
“I actually listened in yesterday, and I suppose I was a bit surprised, but the last thing I want to do is sit and judge people for that, because they’re entitled to their opinion,” Mescal told RTE One’s The Late Late Show.
“My own perspective of it is we worked hard to make it feel like it was a real, accurate and truthful representation of sex amongst young people.
“It’s something I’m incredibly proud of and incredibly proud to see on Irish screens, personally.”
