NO JAPES: We’re Getting ‘The Incredibles 2’ A Lot Sooner Than We Thought

Okay guys, we’ve got good news and bad news.

The good news is that The Incredibles 2 had had its release date moved up to June 15, 2018, which is still really bloody far away but is a little closer than it used to be. We’ve been waiting a long time for this, Pixar. Don’t mess with us.

The bad news is that Toy Story 4 has been pushed back to June 21, 2019, which is so friggin’ far away there’s some of you that could be taking your snot-nosed lil’ kids to see this one.

As those of you who already have the dates marked on your calendars (ya big weirdos) will notice, the films have done the old switcheroonie. They’ve done gone flipped.

Pixar is being extremely tight-lipped on The Incredibles 2, with director Brad Bird saying little more than “I’m not going to give up anything! I come down on the side of surprise.”
However, Toy Story 4 – which reunites the storytellers behind Toy Story 1–3 John Lasseter (also directing), Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich – has a little more to offer.

“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” said Lasseter. “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.”

And now we play the waiting game. Ugh.
