Nintendo God-King Shigeru Miyamoto Enlists The Roots For GOAT ‘Mario’ Theme

Covers of the Super Mario Bros. theme song comprise a solid 48% of all YouTube videos, so it takes something pretty spesh to make nostalgia-hungry listeners pay attention.

An appearance from Shigeru Miyamoto – the bloke who bloody created Mario & Co. – falls into that damn special category.

Taking to the Tonight Show stage with little-known backing band The Roots, Miyamoto busted out a funky-as-hell rendition of the ditty as the eponymous host scooped up some coins:

It wasn’t all fond gazes into the past, though. Nintendo America’s head honcho Reggie Fils-Aimé also rocked up to show off the new Nintendo Switch, which is essentially a console by way of Transformer:

Usually, we’d say this is a cynical pre-Christmas product placement, but the Switch actually comes out in March 2017. 

So, feel free to enjoy this wonderment with the knowledge they’re not doing it to extract ya cash in the immediate future.
