Hide your credit cards, folks, because Kim Craig nee Day is likely going to steal it to purchase Nikki Webster tickets for your bday for $500. What is this concert, you ask? Well, nothing is locked in yet, but the singer has expressed interest in performing at the 2032 Olympics.
ICYMI: Australia is set to host the Olympic Games for the first time since 2000 in the year 2032 and folks are petitioning for Nikki to perform, like she did back in the day in the darling lil pink dress, which launched her pop career that brought us the absolute banger, ‘Strawberry Kisses’.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, Nikki Webster said her “mind was blown” when she spotted the petition, which was kickstarted by 2GB’s Deborah Knight, and said she’d bloody love to take the stage once again when the Olympics hit Brissy in just over a decade’s time.
“I’d love to perform in Brisbane, who wouldn’t?! I mean, it’s the most rewarding performance of any person’s career, to represent your country on a global scale. It’s pretty awesome,” she said.
“The Olympics are always a very special time for me, so to be thought of in that way is just incredible. It’s very humbling,” she added.
Nikki said she looks back on the 2000 Opening ceremony with nothing but fond memories and same, girl.
“I remember watching Cathy Freeman light the cauldron and I was thinking, ‘Where will I be in four years’ time?’ I certainly wasn’t thinking about where I’d be at 45,” she said.
Nikki Webster will be 45 when the 2032 ceremony takes place and she said she already has some ideas of how to wow the audience.
“I would love to fly again! And technology has come a long way so maybe I could even levitate across the stage or something,” she said. “But I definitely won’t be wearing the pink dress.”
Well that’s a bummer. Fingers and toes for the flying, though!
