Yesterday, the internet absolutely exploded over Nigella Lawson‘s pronunciation of the word ‘microwave’. Most people were convinced that she was joking, but there were still some who believed that she actually says “Mee-Kro-Wav-Ay”, which is just downright hilarious.
Now, Nigella has clarified what was going on with her pronunciation on her BBC Two special Cook, Eat, Repeat, and what she thinks about the clip of her going viral. The best part is, she’s even sharing memes and reacting to them, which is truly the best kind of reaction to the internet freaking out.
If somehow you haven’t witnessed the sheer perfection that is the viral Nigella Lawson microwave video, here it is. Get up to speed, and try not to let it get stuck in your head like it’s done to me.

Firstly let’s get one thing clear. Yes, Nigella actually does say “Mee-Kro-Wav-Ay” all the time, but not as some batshit pronunciation. It’s just a running joke that she likes to slip into her shows. It basically proves that Nigella is as fun as you’d imagine she is. Love her.
She clarified some questions on Twitter after the memes kept on pouring in and tagging her.
Well, I do say it like that, but not because I think that’s how it’s actually pronounced

So for those of you who thought it was serious, you’re right. And for those of you who thought she was being silly, you’re also right. Everybody wins here, even though the explanation is kinda confusing.
Both

On top of this, she started to share and react to some memes that were simply delicious.
This one here is a meme from AO, who very briefly changed its website to sell “Meecroowaaveys” instead of microwaves. Nigella thought it was brilliant, because it quite literally is.
Brilliant!

Another meme, which was so great that Nigella even shared it onto her Twitter page, was a fan creation of an IKEA product. The best part is that it looked like an actual IKEA microwave that you’d see on the shelves, from name to description, so points to this meme for creativity.
That made me laugh!

Simply in love with how well Nigella is taking all of this. Although she has addressed how confused she is by the fact that it’s all gone so viral, we cannot help but stan someone who embraces their couple of days in the wild land of memes.
Godspeed, Nigella.
