Nicolas Cage Is All Set To Play Nicolas Cage In A Movie About Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage

Known loose cannon Nicolas Cage is in talks to play himself in a movie called The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and honestly, sign us the hell up for that.

The Hollywood Reporter says that studio Lionsgate is pretty close to locking down a deal for the film, and the premise sounds utterly wild:

“The [Nicolas Cage] character is desperate to get a role in a new Tarantino movie while also dealing with a strained relationship with his teenage daughter. He also occasionally talks to an egotistical 1990s version of himself who rides him for making too many crappy movies and for not being a star anymore.”

There’s a lot more to it than that, though. Reportedly, the plot kicks into gear when Cage makes an appearance at a Mexican billionaire’s birthday party to try and pay off his “mountain of debt.”

He then befriends the billionaire and they work on a film script together, but things start to spiral into a mess of drug cartels, kidnappings and the CIA. To be honest, it sounds like classic Nicolas Cage fare.

The film is reportedly heavily inspired by the actor’s own filmography, with nods to the likes of Face-Off and Gone In 60 Seconds as well as more serious films like Leaving Las Vegas.
