Tortorella will play Felix who Deadline describes as ‘an honourable man of his word who isn’t afraid to fight for others’ safety and acceptance’.

The third series, which currently has no title, will centre on the first generation to come to power in the apocalypse where some characters will be heroes and some will be villains.

The excited star took to Instagram to share the incredible news, writing: “get ready y’all. this is it. felix is the one.”

Production has already begun on the series in Richmond, VA, where Nico joins previously cast Annet Mahendru (Huck), Aliyah Royale (Iris) Alexa Mansour (Hope), Nicolas Cantu (Elton) and Hal Cumpston (Silas).

The series will premiere over in the States in 2020 and presumably here in Aus shortly thereafter.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the series co-created by Scott Gimple and The Walking Dead veteran writer and producer Matt Negrete, who will serve as the series’ showrunner.

Deadline reports that the undead new role will not interfere with Torterella’s role in Stan series Younger where they play the charming Josh.

Season 6 is now streaming on the local streaming giant.
