Here’s Your 1st Itty Bitty Look At Nickelodeon’s ‘Are You Afraid Of The Dark?’ Reboot

Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

Nickelodeon has unleashed the first teaser for its Are You Afraid of the Dark? reboot, the kids show undoubtedly responsible for my deep fear of clowns.

It’s been 19 whole years since we last gathered ’round the campfire with The Midnight Society to listen to scary stories. The OG series ran from 1992 to 1996, and was later rebooted in 1999 for two more seasons.

This time around, we’ll be treated to three hour-long episodes.

The 16-second teaser is filled with all your standards: a zombie, creepy man, creepy man with makeup… a clown, and a whole new Midnight Society. There’s Gavin (Sam Ashe Arnold), Akiko (Miya Cech), Louise (Tamara Smart), Graham (Jeremy Taylor), and Rachel (Lyliana Wray). Blindspotting star Rafael Casal will star as The Carnival of Doom’s ringmaster, Mr. Tophat.

Speaking of the new miniseries to Entertainment Weekly, writer BenDavid Grabinski said Are You Afraid of the Dark? was his introduction to the horror genre, which made him a fan for life.

“I hope we’re lucky enough to have our series do the same,” he added. “It’s going to be a fun and scary ride, and I’m honoured to introduce the Midnight Society to a whole new generation of kids.”

Are You Afraid of The Dark? will premiere in October.

As for other childhood favourites, Nickelodeon’s Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus movies are finally coming to Netflix.

In the former, Rocko and his mates return to earth after 20 years in space to find life on earth has dramatically changed. Not quite so keen on all the new changes, Rocko sets out to get his favourite show back on the air. Static Cling will hit the streaming service, August 9th. In the latter, Zim has moved on to the next phase of his evil alien plan to conquer Earth once and for all, while his nemesis Dib Membrane sets out to unmask him. You’ll have to wait an extra week to watch this on August 16.

August 16 also happens to be when Mindhunter season 2 finally hits Netflix so lots to look forward to!
