Seems Like Nick Kroll & John Mulaney Really Want That Oscars Hosting Gig

Now that Kevin Hart has stepped down as Oscars host, the gig is wide open, and it seems like comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney are very keen to have a crack – or, to be more specific, their alter egos Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland are very keen to have a crack.

Ageing lotharios Faizon and Geegland appeared on the low-budget public access program Oh, Hello, where they would frequently prank their guests with large amounts of tuna, before taking their show on the road, including a run of shows on Broadway and a Netflix special.

Now, according to their Twitter account, the pair have been asked to host the Oscars, and have accepted. We’re taking this with a grain of salt, as these two are notorious pranksters, but here’s one of their Tweets from earlier today:

They have been going very hard on this Oscars thing, as you can see:

With no official announcement from the Academy or from any trade publications, it seems like this might be a very elaborate case of Nick Kroll and John Mulaney campaigning to host the show:

If that’s the case, then the Academy should really give them some thought, as they’ve proved in the past that they can kill it when it comes to hosting these types of events:
