Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” has the distinction of being the only book reviewed on Pedestrian and also serves as the source material for an upcoming feature starring Charlize Theron, Viggo Mortensen, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall.
For those who haven’t read it (we strongly recommend you do) the novel follows the harrowing journey of a father and son as they traverse a post-apocalyptic world burnt black. Some scenes are truly horrific but are described with prose so cadent, lucid and stunning any passage could pass as poetry. It’s too early to tell if The Road’s big screen incarnation is as faithfully or skillfully adapted as the McCarthy penned “No Country For Old Men” but for now we do have this trailer.
