New Mike Mills Trailer – “Beginners”

And he’s back. Six years after the release of his tepidly received debut Thumbsucker, Mike Mills – filmmaker, graphic designer, artist, writer, awesome person – returns to the big screen with Beginners, a heady, heartfelt dramedy headlined by Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer. The trailer hints at the visual trickery Mills brought to his music videos as well as the muted emotion he portrays so well. Most of it comes courtesy of McGregor who plays Oliver, a quirky lost soul who must deal with the revelation that his father Hal (Christopher Plummer) is both gay and terminally ill. Strangely, Mill’s script is semi-autobiographical as his own father came out at the age of 75, five years before his death. Real talk. Check out the trailer below…
