New “Let Me In” Trailer

Hollywood’s insatiable desire to remake foreign language films can yield hits (The Departed) misses (most Japanese horror remakes) and those that exist in between (Vanilla Sky). And though it’s great that slick Hollywood remakes can bring otherwise marginalized stories to a wider audience who hate reading subtitles we, like most of the internet, were fairly dubious of Let Me In – the Matt Reeves directed remake of 2008’s deceptively poignant Swedish vampire flick Let The Right One In. And rightly so. The original was a surprisingly touching portrayal of adolescent relationships coloured by the quiet suspense of vampires (without glistening torsos) and the pristine yet eerie surrounds of Swedish suburbia.

For fans of the the original, you can check out the brand new Let Me In trailer below which sees a New Mexico relocation and a pair of young actors on the rise in the leading roles, Australian Kodi-Smith McPhee (The Road) and Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl of Kick-Ass). We’d still question the benefits of remaking a near-perfect film but the trailer certainly looks promising.

What do you think? Will this do the original justice?
