Netflix’s Weed-Based Competitive Cooking Show Just Dropped

The title says it all, folks. Cooking on High is Netflix’s brand new and first-ever competitive cannabis cooking show.

The gist is two legitimate chefs have about 30 minutes to whip up a weed-infused dish for a panel of celebrity judges – and no, we’re not just talking about double choc chip brownies – these are proper dishes like gourmet burgers and spaghetti. It’s the real deal and as the judges taste and taste and taste, they get more and more blazed.

The “doped-up dishes” are then judged on a scale of one to 10. Winners cop a sash and a ~ golden cooking pot ~.

As for the legalities, every single episode has this message tagged onto the end credits:

“All of the cannabis cuisine featured in this program was intended for medicinal purposes only and was prescribed, prepared, and consumed in accordance with local laws. However, all the individuals who consumed the medicated cuisine suddenly got the urge to chill and watch TV.”

Well, there you go.

Per Herb.co and their definitive guide to marijuana law – weed’s available in the US for medicinal purposes only in a string of states including Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, and a whole bunch of others.

Moving on, there are 12 episodes and they go for 12-15 minutes so you can easily binge the series in a couple of hours if you’re keen. The show’s also hosted by YouTube personality Josh Leyva and comedian and cannabis activist Ngaio Bealum.

Earlier this week, Canada became the second country in the world to legalise recreational weed – a core election promise of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s campaign back in 2015. The Cannabis Act will allow marijuana to be legally sold to adults without prescription. Home growing will also be permitted as well as possession.

In other cooking show news – Netflix also uploaded the trailer for Nailed It S2 and you can chuck it a suss, below:

(This is the series where real and not Masterchefy amateur cooks try and make cakes and most of the finished products, if not all, end up looking like soggy Play-Doh… it’s amazing.)
