The prequel series, based on Jim Henson‘s fantasy world, has been locked in for ten one-hour episodes on the streaming giant. In Age of Resistance, set years before the events of the movie, the world of Thra is dying. At its heart, the Crystal of Truth – a source of untold power – has been damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis. As a horrid sickness spreads across the land, three young Gelfing set out to inspire a rebellion and help save their world after they discover the secret behind the Skeksis’ power.

RIGHTO, so this latest string of puppets will be voiced by: Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Maudra Fara, Benedict Wong (Avengers) as The General, ya girl Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) as The Collector, Sigourney Weaver as The Myth-Speaker, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Naia, and Dave Goelz (OG The Dark Crystal) as Baffi.

The rest of the cast is basically everyone you love and adore with standouts including the lovely Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Helena Bonham Carter (too many films to name), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead), and Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). And that’s just five of them.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance hits Netflix, August 30.

STUNNING.

While we all wait for August to roll around, now’s the time to rewatch / watch the 1982 movie – otherwise known as a goddamn cult classic.
