Netflix Casts Your Boy Neil Patrick Harris In ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’

Yesterday, Netflix hit us with a pair of teasers for the Judd Apatow-produced, Gillian Jacobs-starring comedy series Love, for which you can mark us down as unconditionally keen.
The streaming service continues its original content push today, with confirmation that they have locked down your boy Neil Patrick Harris for a starring role in a new show.
That show would be A Series Of Unfortunate Events, their upcoming adaptation of the wildly popular young adult novels.
Harris has signed on to play the villainous Count Olaf, the evil guardian of orphaned siblings Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire. The role was originally played by Jim Carrey in the 2004 movie adaptation.
Hollywood Reporter broke the story while it was still rumoured, and Harris himself followed-up with a confirmation Tweet, indicating that he is going method:

Daniel Handler, who wrote the books under the name Lemony Snicket, will co-produce the series, which has been picked up for 13 episodes, but does not yet have a premiere date.
Harris was last seen on television in the short-lived Best Time Ever, a variety show that was cancelled after one season.
Before that, he played the catch phrase-dispensing, suit-wearing Barney Stinson in a comedy you might vaguely have heard of, How I Met Your Mother. Before that, of course, there was this:
