Netflix Australia Reveals Its Prices, Undercuts Nearest Rivals

Streaming service Netflix launches in Australia on March 24, and with the release this morning of their pricing structure, it’s clear that they’re not here to mess around.

Per reports in Fairfax, the service will offer three tiers of streaming options, with the cheapest coming in at just $8.99 a month. This option will allow users to stream to one device in standard definition.
The next plan up, priced at $11.99, offers high definition streaming to two devices, while the third one, at $14.99 a month, offers ultra-high definition 4K streaming to up to four screens.
This pricing is comparable to the American service, which a reported 200,000 Australians already access using VPNs.
Much like rivals Presto and Stan, Netflix will offer a free 30-day trial to new members, however, prices for the other services start at $9.99 and $10 a month respectively.
As previously reported, a deal with iinet means that customers of that isp will be able to stream Netflix content without it counting towards their monthly download limit.
At its launch, the Aussie Netflix will lack some key titles like Orange Is The New Black due to licensing issues, but others, like House Of Cards, will be available in full.
UPDATE: A Reddit Australia user has uploaded a series of screengrabs that allegedly display Netflix Australia’s catalogue of TV shows and movies.
This list does include Orange Is The New Black, alongside Homeland, House, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, The Killing, Arrow and many more
