Neil DeGrasse Tyson To Host Own Science-Based Late Night Talk Show

Listen up nerds, National Geographic has announced that Neil DeGrasse Tyson will be hosting his own late night talk show on the National Geographic Channel (also airing in Australia on the same channel), premiering as early as April 2015.

The popular astrophysicist – who, (side-note) Wikipedia kindly tells me, was named “Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive” by People magazine in 2000, a truly honourable achievement that all budding astrophysicists surely aspire to wildly – has been hosting his cult weekly radio show “Star Talk” since 2009, with his upcoming late night show reported to be following in the radio show’s footsteps. According to a release obtained by The Wrap: “The new series will bridge the intersection between pop culture and
science as it brings together celebrities, comedians and scientists to
discuss the latest developments in our vast universe.” The weekly show will reportedly be shot with a live audience at the American Museum of National History’s Hayden Planetarium.

Comedians and celebrities mulling over the universe with Neil motherfucking DeGrasse Tyson? Gimme.

There’s no word on whether the series will air on Australian screens when it does in the U.S, but let’s be honest and realistic and assume that Australia doesn’t get nice things (on time) so we probably won’t see this for a while. But regardless: fuck yeah, science!
