Thor 4 – now revealed to be called Thor: Love and Thunder – is officially on its way and it’s bringing back an OG cast member, Natalie Portman. The Academy Award-winning actor will reprise her role as Jane Foster, who’ll follow the same story line as her comic book counterpart and become the Goddess of Thunder – a new Thor.

Adored Kiwi Taika Waititi, who will return to direct the fourth film, announced the news at Marvel’s massive Comic-Con panel in San Diego.

Foster, an astrophysicist, appeared in the first two films Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013) as the god’s love interest. According to the 2014 comics, Thor is weakened and unworthy to wield the great hammer. In his place, a new mighty Thor arises as the Goddess of Thunder. Her identity is kept a secret at first but she is later revealed to be Jane.

“I’ve always had hammer envy,” a Mjolnir-wielding Portman told the crowd at Comic-Con’s Hall H, per Variety.

National treasure Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also reprise their roles as the God of Thunder and Valkyrie.

Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for release November 5, 2021.

Marvel also announced a slew of other titles as part of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A couple of these – and I really do just mean ‘a couple’ include The Eternals starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, and Kumail NanjianiShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings starring Kim’s Convenience snack Simu Liu and legend AwkwafinaDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen, and Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson and Stranger Things dad David Harbour.
