Thor 4 – now revealed to be called Thor: Love and Thunder – is officially on its way and it’s bringing back an OG cast member, Natalie Portman. The Academy Award-winning actor will reprise her role as Jane Foster, who’ll follow the same story line as her comic book counterpart and become the Goddess of Thunder – a new Thor.

Adored Kiwi Taika Waititi, who will return to direct the fourth film, announced the news at Marvel’s massive Comic-Con panel in San Diego.
Foster, an astrophysicist, appeared in the first two films Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013) as the god’s love interest. According to the 2014 comics, Thor is weakened and unworthy to wield the great hammer. In his place, a new mighty Thor arises as the Goddess of Thunder. Her identity is kept a secret at first but she is later revealed to be Jane.
“I’ve always had hammer envy,” a Mjolnir-wielding Portman told the crowd at Comic-Con’s Hall H, per Variety.
National treasure Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also reprise their roles as the God of Thunder and Valkyrie.
Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for release November 5, 2021.
