Fran Drescher And The OG ‘Nanny’ Cast Are Reuniting For A Table Read On Zoom Next Week

The Nanny

YOU GUYS, the one and only Fran Drescher and the entire main cast of The Nanny are reuniting next week for a virtual table read.

Drescher, creator and star of the beloved show, teased a surprise on her Twitter last week after one fan asked someone, anyone to put The Nanny on a streaming service. All six seasons are available on Amazon Prime Video in Australia, if you were wondering.

Variety reports the original cast will reunite for a virtual table read of the pilot episode, arguably one of the best episodes, which will be shared on the Sony Pictures YouTube page on Monday, April 6. If we’re taking time zones into account here, there’s a very good chance that’ll be Tuesday, April 7 for us.

“Laughter is the best medicine! So, in these challenging times, Petah [The Nanny co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson] and I thought, wouldn’t it be great if we pulled together the original cast of The Nanny for a virtual read of the pilot?” Drescher said in a statement. “It’s a once in the lifetime Pandemic Performance for our fans around the world who are currently stressing in isolation and could use a real upper! It sure has given each of us a lift and we hope it does for you as well.”

The table read will see the return of Mr Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy), my forever mood Niles (Daniel Davis), C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane), Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury), Grace (Madeline Zima), Slyvia Fine (Renée Taylor), and Val (Rachel Chagall). The only original cast member of the pilot who will not return for the reading is James Marsden. Yes, a very young James Marsden starred in The Nanny pilot as a waiter at one of Mr Sheffield’s fancy house parties. He was Maggie’s boo for a little while.

In some more very important Nanny news, Drescher is currently developing The Nanny: A New Musical for Broadway.
