Billionaire chairman/CEO of News Corp Rupert Murdoch yesterday filed for divorce against his third wife Wendi Deng, apparently banishing from his memory the time in 2011 she leapt between him and some baked goods in court during his testimony before the British parliament for that scandalous phone hacking debacle.
An agile ex-volleyball player (confirmed) and Yale graduate, 44-year-old Deng is widely regarded as a key influencer in his media empire. She has been credited with “youthifying” the old sport, introducing him to young people who know things about the internet like Facebook’s Mark Z and Twitter’s co-founder Jack Dorsey.
Having married 14 years ago in New York Harbour on Murdoch’s 50m yacht, the Morning Glory, the couple have two daughters together, Chloe (9) and Grace (11), for whom they have filed for joint custody of. Details of the settlement are not yet known.
Will 82-year-old Mr Murdoch be looking for wife #4? Will he enjoy a spot of liberal bachelor life? Will interested parties pose questions like Are you strong enough to be my man? Will they not inquire on such matters because C.R.E.A.M? Interesting.
