Morgan Freeman Pays Tribute To Fatally Stabbed Step-Granddaughter

Morgan Freeman‘s 33-year-old step-granddaughter, Edena Hines, was murdered outside her NYC home early Sunday morning.

Responding officers found her bleeding from multiple stab wounds to her torso; she was later pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital nearby.

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and transported to a hospital nearby.

Freeman took to Facebook to thank the public for the outpouring of sympathy he and his family received (and are still receiving) in the wake of this tragedy.

I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -M

In an earlier statement, he said:

“The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person.”

Hines was an actor and a writer, according to her website. She spent three years studying at the prestigious Graduate Acting Program at NYU, before “turning her sites” toteaching under-exposed youths in her hometown of Memphis, TN.

RIP Edena.
