The good folk over at Stan have been pushing hard into local Aussie content recently – particularly comedy – and we reported all the way back in September that they’d tapped your boy Matt Okine for a show about a cheating ex which may or may not be extremely autobiographical.
Well, today Stan announced that The Other Guy is now officially in production, and that it’ll be six half an hour eps. Stan describes the story thusly:
It’s the story of a successful radio host who finds himself unexpectedly back in the dating pool for the first time in a decade, after discovering his long-term girlfriend has been having an affair with his best friend.
The series is directed by Kacie Anning, and co-written by extremely funny humans Becky Lucas and Greg Waters. We now know who is co-starring, too – the show also features Harriet Dyer (No Activity, Love Child), Valene Kane (The Fall, Rogue One), Magda Szubanski (Kath & Kim, Bran Nue Dae) and Christiaan van Vuuren (Soul Mates, Bondi Hipsters).
The show will be shot around Sydney, and it’s expected to premiere late this year. Should be a corker.
