Monty Python Gives Simon Pegg The Power In The First Trailer For “Absolutely Anything”

Though on paper this is inevitably going to draw more than a few comparisons to similarly themed fare like Bruce Almighty, the first trailer for Absolutely Anywhere holds its promise in the extended cast and crew.

The British sci-fi comedy film is the newest film from director and former member of Monty PythonTerry Jones. This marks the first time Jones has sat in the director’s chair for a feature film in nearly 20 years, having last taken hold of the 1996 Wind in the Willows adaptation, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. This also marks the first time since Wild Ride that Jones has been credited with a feature script – for this one, co-penning alongside Small Soldiers scribe, Gavin Scott.
Anything’s cast is also of note, featuring a bunch of in-the-flesh actors like Simon Pegg, Rob Riggle, Kate Beckinsale, Joanna Lumley, Eddie Izard, and Sanjeev Bhaskar, and a voice cast that includes Jones and the rest of his living Python cohorts in John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Eric Idle, alongside Robin Williams in one of the late comic’s last performances.
The film is scheduled for release on August 14th.
