This week’s Bachelor Australia was bloody wild. We got the walk-out (Matt Agnew getting fed up with the drama and storming off in a huff) and we got the anticipated ‘dog cunt’ insanity too (Monique Morely allegedly calling Matt the c-bomb).

Last night, Mon was booted from the mansion by Matt after she continued to insist she never said he was a dog cunt. Matt was originally alerted to the saga when Abbie Chatfield felt she ~ had ~ to tell him on their solo date.
The drama is hilarious – that the term ‘dog cunt’ could become the centre of reality TV bullshit is just phenomenal stuff. But to me, Matt made a mistake.
Look, I don’t think Monique was ever a front-runner for Matt’s heart. The pair didn’t really have a spark (to me). I also get that her constant avoidance of owning the dog cunt thing made her seem a *bit* untrustworthy. But if you think about it, the woman was put on the spot and probably panicked, thinking denying the whole thing was the best option.
Monique’s told media she was just fucking around, imitating pop culture character Trent From Punchy, which makes more sense to me than anyone in that mansion getting so pissed over Matt’s choice for single dates they call him a dog cunt. Who says that unless someone’s like, keyed their car or fucked their boyfriend?
Regardless, what Mon said was said in private. It wasn’t even said to Abbie – she was supposedly in a convo with fellow contestant Rachael, and other women around happened to overhear. Now, there are some private convos that I DO think would warrant a dobbing incident. Like, “omg just quietly, I have a secret boyfriend and I’m just doing this for attention”. Or “I have murdered five people and no one knows about it”.
But a jokey convo about Matt being a dog cunt because he chose someone else for a date? I can’t see a scenario where Abbie actually thought this was legit slandering of Matt, let alone how it paints Monique as being a fake piece of shit who needs to be dobbed on.
Like, it WOULD feel shit seeing the dude you’re meant to be getting to know gallivanting off with other women, even if you know that’s the name of the game. I can totally see myself having the jokey convo Mon says she had. And it would mean nothing – it’d just be a laugh about the weird situation of dating a guy who is dating 20 other women.
The real manipulation here was Abbie painting her admission to Matt as “concern”. Abbie wasn’t concerned for Matt’s wellbeing. She was playing the game in a really shady, sneaky fashion. By divulging Monique’s private convo to Matt, with zero context, she put Monique in the firing line – without her even knowing it.
So when Mon was pulled aside by Matt for a “chat” and then had the dog cunt accusation thrust upon her out of seemingly nowhere, I kinda understand why she immediately flew into denial mode. How intimidating to have cameras in your face and this guy asking if you called him a DOG CUNT??? JFC, I’d be terrified.
I’m not saying Monique’s a great human being – I don’t know the woman and she really didn’t get enough air-time for us to deduce much about her, to be honest. I just think in terms of the dog cunt saga, the person who should’ve been booted for dishonesty was Abbie.
Lying when you’re put on the spot? I think that’s more than understandable. Especially when it’s national TV and you are fully aware the way you’re presented is going to affect your image.
Lying in the manipulative way Abbie did? That’s real mean girl behaviour. That’s proper Bachie villain shit, and MAYBE she genuinely thought she was doing the right thing, but I doubt it.
I’m 1000% aware I’ve deep dived this Bachelor drama to the point where I can’t even see real life anymore, but hey – as I’ve said in the past, the shit we see on here might be producer-led, but it’s still real shit. It still says something about human nature and the way we react to that as a society.
Guys, don’t be dog cunts. Don’t dob on people unless it actually needs to be done.
