Molly Meldrum Biopic Reportedly In The Works At Channel Seven

A biopic based on the life of Stetson-hatted Australian music icon Molly Meldrum, 71, is reportedly in the works at Channel Seven, a network apparently looking to capitalise on a spate of recent high-rating, nostalgic Australian music industry specials.
According to a report in today’s Australian, a Mushroom Pictures project based on Molly – Meldrum’s yet to be released autobiography ghost-written with Jeff Jenkins – is currently in developmental stages and will tell the story of “the music, the bands, the parties, the celebrities, the politics, the girlfriends and boyfriends, the hat and, most of all, the story of Molly himself.”
TV Tonight are also reporting that the ABC are developing a separate documentary series based on Countdown, Australia’s most popular music television program that Meldrum produced and hosted for almost thirteen years from 1974 onward, is also in the works.
Molly [imagined working title] is tipped to air in 2015. Imagine the casting possibilities – I really hope Samantha Jade’s free
