According to Vulture, the still untitled comedy project follows “the complicated life of a modern-day first generation Indian American teenage girl,” featuring tales from Kaling’s own life growing up in suburban Massachusetts.

The actress is known for using her personal experience in her projects as evidenced by her popular series The Mindy Project, based on the life of her mama.

Mindy took to Instagram to confirm the exciting news by sharing an article posted by Deadline.

I’m joining the @netflix fam! @loulielang and I are working on a brand-new @netflix TV comedy…about the life of a modern-day first generation Indian American teenage girl. Get ready for lots of relatable, awkward teen moments. Link up top! And more coming soon.

Elsewhere, Kaling has been busy adapting the beloved rom-com Four Weddings and a Funeral for Hulu, and she’s also gearing up for the release of Late Night, a workplace rom-com she wrote and stars in.
