Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson Dropped An Ariana-Approved ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ Cover

Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson pulled out a powerhouse, heaps moving cover of Ariana Grande‘s ‘No Tears Left to Cry‘, from this year’s Sweetener, on BBC Radio 1‘s Live Lounge.

Mates, even though Ronson is restrained on an electric-acoustic, theres a full string section here and we have FEELINGS.

It just totally strips away the production elements of the original – the synthy crackle and bouncy beat – and pulls it down to its emotional core, letting Cyrus show off her pipes.

Ronson tweeted that he “love[s] this song. And I loved getting to cover it“.

Here’s the super impressive full track:

Ariana Grande is very into the cover, tweeting “i love that voice and soul sm“.

Ronson replied to Grande to say that he’s been a fan of hers ever since she dropped ‘The Way‘, featuring her late former partner Mac Miller, in 2013. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: can this mutual admiration lead to a collaboration please?

Cyrus and Grande have recent form supporting each other – although their friendship dates back to at least when they performed Crowded House‘s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over‘ together in 2015 to raise money for Cyrus’ Happy Hippie Foundation. They performed the duet again last year as part of Grande’s One Love Manchester, raising money for the victims of the tragic Manchester Arena bombing earlier that year.

And lately, when they released singles on the same day – Grande’s ‘Imagine‘ and Cyrus and Ronson’s cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s classic ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)‘ – they’ve cheerfully plugged one another’s work, Grande writing in a since-deleted tweet she later owned as insensitive to Kanye West:

guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u.

Cyrus has not deleted her tweet quoting Grande, referring to West and Drake‘s beef.

You can also watch a full interview with both Ronson and Cyrus at the BBC HERE. They also whipped out their original single, ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart‘, in the Live Lounge.

After Cyrus came out smokin’ in just pants and a jacket on Saturday Night Live to perform her and Ronson’s melancholy banger on the weekend, Cyrus wore a full black turtleneck while singing the track in the UK. English people, y’know? Prudish. The string section of course hung around for this one, and it’s truly the late frontrunner for Single of the Year, don’t @ me.
