Mickey Rourke is currently shooting the romantic drama “Passion Play” with costar Megan Fox who he has referred to as “probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with”, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. That’s pretty much an open palm face-slap for Evan Rachel Wood – the other young actress he has recently worked with in Darren Aronofsky’s beautiful drama “The Wrestler”.
Not one for subtlety, Mickey also threw out a pretty transparent dis in the direction of his other “The Wrestler” costar, Marisa Tomei, saying: “There wasn’t much chemistry there. With Megan and I, there’s a lot of chemistry and a lot of respect. We’re both comfortable with each other.” You’ve got to hand it to the guy: for a Hollywood type, he sure is candid.
Maybe the comfort levels have something to do with the fact that Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood seem relatively normal (Wood’s relationship with Marilyn Manson notwithstanding), and both Mickey and Megan Fox are permanent residents of CRAZYTOWN?
“Passion Play” follows the story of a down-on-this-luck trumpet player (Rourke) and a vulnerable winged beauty (Fox) who assist each other in finding redemption, also featuring Bill Murray and Rhys Ifans in supporting roles. If Mickey can pull out the same kind of performance he brought to “The Wrestler” we’d tout this as a film to keep on your radar.
