Doing live TV interviews via satellite absolutely sucks for a number of reasons, not least of which being that different time zones means you might have to do the interview at a completely bung hour of the night. Even still you reckon you’d be able to keep your eyes open. In the case of Michael Bolton though, apparently not.

Bolton appeared on The Morning Show yesterday (that’s the one Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies host after TODAY goes off the air) in an interview live from Florida that was plagued with technical difficulties.
Immediately after crossing, it became apparent that Emdur and Gillies had no audio link to Bolton, and Bolton simply had no idea he was even on the air across Australia.
So instead of patiently waiting while the tech issues were sorted, Bolton… had a little nap.

Gotta hand it to him: Waking briefly to remark “it’s gone silent” before falling back asleep is an absolute power move of the highest order. Nothing but respect for it.
The real kicker here though is that Bolton has subsequently gone on the record to claim he was not, in fact, sleeping. He was doing something else entirely, actually.

Tweeting. Yeah sure mate. That’s the face of a man who was calmly tweeting during a borked live TV cross in the middle of the damned night.
Honestly, whom among us hasn’t dreamt of nodding off during an interview of any kind? Whom, I ask you?
