People are pretty much the worst. Meryl Streep, however, is pretty much the best, as this story proves.
As a young actress in the ’70s, she was looking for a big break when the son of producer Dino De Laurentiis saw her in a play, and suggested her for a part in a remake of King Kong. The meeting, though, did not go very well:
It’s hard to imagine that kind of spirit-crushing shit actually happening to you, but heartening to know that Meryl Streep managed to rise above it. For the record, the part went to a young Jessica Lange.
