Meryl Streep Sang Carrie Fisher’s Favourite Song At Her Memorial

Family and friends of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, who died within days of one-another at the end of last month, have gathered to remember the beloved mother and daughter at Fisher’s Beverly Hills home.
Fisher’s only daughter, 24-year-old actress Billie Lourd, sang her mother’s favourite song ‘Happy Days Are Here Again‘ along with Meryl Streep, who played a character based on Fisher in the 1990 film Postcards From The Edge.
“By the end,” a friend told People, “everyone was singing.”
Also in attendance were Fisher’s beloved French Bulldog Gary, close friends Candice Bergen, Gwyneth Paltrow and George Lucas, and Billie Lourd’s rumoured boyfriend Taylor Lautner.
According to a family friend, Billie wanted the gathering to be reminiscent of one of Fisher’s famous parties, so her friends could get together one last time to farewell her.
Fisher’s favourite foods – fried chicken, collard greens and cornbread – were served to the guests. “The only things missing were Carrie and Debbie,” said a friend, adding of the pair’s legendary parties:

“Debbie would sit in the corner, and everyone there would come up and pay homage. Even the biggest stars were starstruck by her. Carrie would walk around barefoot with a can of Coca-Cola, making sure everyone was having a good time, saying the funniest things you’ve ever heard.”
