Melissa McCarthy’s ‘Sookie’ Is Back For Netflix’s ‘Gilmore Girls’ Series

FANTASTIC NEWS, EVERYONE.

Even though she’s busy being a pretty big deal these days, it would appear that Melissa McCarthy will be returning to Stars Hollow for the Gilmore Girls revival series after all.
The brouhaha surrounding McCarthy and her character of Sookie St. James has been a dominating story of the Gilmore‘s reunion series, set to be a limited short run on Netflix.
McCarthy’s maxed-out schedule at first prevented the production from even extending the initial invitation to the comedy star, despite the remainder of the original cast signing back on for another crack.
But it would appear that scheduling issues have finally been resolved, with TVLine reporting that McCarthy is officially back in for what will be a brief cameo appearance.
Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino last week re-extended the invitation for McCarthy to appear, stating the scene for Sookie had been written and that McCarthy would be able to make a flying dash to the set to film her appearance.

“We’ve just put it out into the universe; we’re here until May 10. I know what the scene is. I’ll pre-light it for her. She can drive up, run in, shoot it, and run out. I can get her in and out in two hours.”

McCarthy reportedly accepted the invitation and will shoot her appearance in the coming days.

Elsewhere, the first photos from the new series have been released to the press, and give fans a pants-shattingly exciting glimpse at what’s to come.
