Looks Like Melissa McCarthy Finally Locked In A Thor 4 Role After Full-On Auditioning On Insta

Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy has been spotted suited up on the set of Thor: Love And Thunder in Sydney this week. A whole bunch of Hollywood actors are in our neck of the woods at the moment, so chuck them all in, I say.

In case you missed it: Thor 4 has been filming in Centennial Park for the past couple of weeks. The film is already chock-full of A-listers, including Chris Hemsworth as the thunder god, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and Chris Pratt as ol’ mate Star-Lord. Stacked cast!

Now it appears McCarthy has joined the cast, after she and her husband Ben Falcone were snapped on set by the Daily Mail (of course).

McCarthy was dressed as Thor’s evil sister Hela, sporting a huge green head piece. Cate Blanchett originally starred in the role in Thor: Ragnarok.

So what is McCarthy doing in Thor?

Well, it appears the fourth film will include another play.

Early on in Ragnarok, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns to Asgard to discover his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is posing as their father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) as he enjoys a play based on their lives.

In it, beneath the wigs and makeup, is Matt Damon as Loki, Luke Hemsworth – Chris’ older brother – as Thor, and Sam Neill as Odin.

cannot imagine the budget on these film, honestly.

If the pictures are to be believed, all of these actors have returned to cameo, plus McCarthy. So I guess this new play will be based on the events of Ragnarok?

You can suss out all the pictures, via the Daily Mail, right here.

McCarthy’s role in the film comes after she and Falcone auditioned (I use that word loosely) for a part – any part – in Love And Thunder on Instagram last Christmas.

Folks, dreams do come true.

Melissa McCarthy has been in NSW filming Nine Perfect Strangersbased on Liane Moriarty‘s novel of the same name. She’s the same author behind Big Little Lies.

Anywho, Thor: Love And Thunder is directed by Taika Waititi, and is slated for release May 6, 2022.

In the meantime, Marvel is gearing up for a slew of releases this year. Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh, comes out April 29. Then there’s Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings on July 8 and The Eternals come October 28.

The former will introduce Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu in the titular role, starring alongside Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh. The latter stars [inhales] Angelina JolieRichard Madden, Kumail NanjianiSalma Hayek, and Kit Harington.

Once again: stacked cast, absolutely stacked.
