Megan Fox Will Be Zooey Deschanel’s Quirky Stand-In On ‘New Girl’

As we reported a few months back, New Girl will be without its titular New Girl for a goodly chunk of episodes in its coming new season, thanks to the demands of shooting around star Zooey Deschanel‘s pregnancy with the world’s most quirky baby.
Deciding, perhaps wisely, that a show called New Girl had best not be without a fresh female of some sort, the producers have decided to compensate for this absence by replacing her with … drumroll please … Megan Fox.
As EW report, Deschanel will appear in the first six episodes of the coming new season, before her Jess character is called away to serve on a jury, apparently leaving her room in the apartment vacant.
Fox will move in, playing a character called Reagan, who rents Jess’s room while she’s sequestered. Per the character description, Reagan is a:
“… gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep who comes to town on business and shakes things up in the loft.”

To save some time, here’s that Poochie gif you were about to go and Google:

Executive producer Liz Meriweather seems to be behind the decision, praising Megan Fox for her comedy skills, saying:
“It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40, and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”
New Girl is set to return to the FOX network in the U.S. early next year.
