Remember last week when PEOPLE shared a promo clip that featured the Friends cast talking about the reunion and punters assumed there was something wrong with Matthew Perry because he slurred his words?
Well now someone has spoken out in defence of Perry, claiming that the reason why he fumbled his words is because he recently had some dental work done.
An insider told The Sun that Matthew Perry “turned up to the reunion [in April] and members of his team said that he had an emergency tooth procedure that day.
“That was said to impact his wellbeing and also how he was feeling.”
Apparently he had “been in pain from what we understand, which caused the slurred speech,” they continued. “Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened. The feeling was one of huge sympathy for Matthew, especially in recent days given how people have reacted online.
“Matthew has told those around him that he is sober, and there is no need to worry.”
Honestly, I reckon this is a BS report planted by Matthew Perry’s people because his critics have been so fucken’ vicious.
If you actually watch the video, he fumbles a word or two but like, I literally just got out of our morning staff meeting and I’m sure I fumbled several words and I’m not on anything but caffeine.
Not only are they pulling at straws here, but they’re making insinuations about Matthew Perry’s health which is an incredibly damaging thing to do, especially given his history of addiction and all the progress he’s made since then.

It’s really disheartening whenever Friends is brought up and people feel the need to talk shit about Matthew Perry’s appearance. He’s struggled with addiction and been through so much but y’all are so concerned about his looks when you should just be grateful he’s still alive.

let’s not use the friends reunion to make fun of the way matthew perry looks these days. people age, funnily enough. matthew has been through A LOT since friends wrapped up in 2004. be respectful instead of judgmental. hard block me rn if you think making fun of him is funny.
