Bachelor Matt Agnew has taken to Instagram with a “heavy heart” to reveal that he and Chelsie McLeod have broken up, almost two months to the day since the finale of his season aired.
In a statement this morning, he said that the six months since filming have been a “unique experience” and that he and Chelsie made some “beautiful memories” that he will always cherish.
He went on to say that while he wishes her all the best, the relationship that formed in front of the cameras sadly did not translate to the real world as they had hoped.
“Chels is a very special woman and I want her to find the happiness she deserves,” he wrote.
“For those who may wonder if there is someone else for me right now, there absolutely is not,” he continued. “It’s no one’s fault, it’s just life.”

Chelsie has also taken to Instagram with some kind words for her former partner, saying:
“Thank you so much to everyone for your support and kind words over what was an incredibly exciting, rewarding, challenging, and emotional journey. Your words have not gone unnoticed. Matt showed me what it was like to be respected in a relationship and I am so thankful for that. However, it saddens me to say that we are no longer together.”
“I wish him nothing but the best. I’m sorry to those that were invested in our relationship. Please remember to be kind online as you don’t know what is going on behind the screen.”
Shortly after the finale aired, Matt Agnew and Chelsie McLeod had to deny rumours of a split, talking about the extreme lengths they went to in order to keep their relationship a secret.
