There’s A New ‘Matrix’ Movie In The Works With The Wachowskis On Board

Matrix

We’re officially at the point where every one of your favourite childhood movies is copping a reboot, remake or a re-whateverifying, so it should come as no surprise that there is some kind of new Matrix movie in the works.

It’s unclear exactly what this will be, as there is no official announcement, but Chad Stahelski – who was Keanu Reeves‘ stunt double in the original films before going on to direct him in the John Wick series – let it slip in a recent interview.

Speaking with Yahoo, he said:

“I’m super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved, and if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car.”

The first Matrix was a huge hit back in 1999, and made the Wachowskis the hottest directors in Hollywood. Two sequels followed, although their quality varied pretty wildly, and the siblings recently put their Chicago-based offices on the market, hinting at retirement.

They said at the time that the production headquarters had been a “dream space” for them, but with no new projects on the go after the end of Netflix series Sense8, they decided it was time to close up shop.

There was talk of a Matrix reboot several years ago, starring Michael B Jordan of Black Panther and without the involvement of the Wachowskis, although there has been no word on that in quite some time, so it’s unclear if it has anything to do with today’s news.
