We’ve known for a while now that John Wick 4, the fourth instalment in the insanely good film series in which Reeves kicks the piss out of goons with a sword on horseback or whatever, is set to arrive in cinemas come May 21st, 2021.
This morning, however, that day became all the more momentous.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the as-yet untitled Matrix 4 movie, which Reeves has already signed on to star in, has now got an official release date.
That date? May 21st, 2021.
Yes, both Matrix 4 and John Wick 4, both starring Keanu Bloody Reeves, are set to premiere on the same damned day.
Matrix 4 was reportedly shunted up to the May 21st date by Warner Bros. Studios after they put the long-awaited live action Akira adaptation on hold after director Taika Waititi put pen to paper on the fourth Thor movie for Marvel Studios.
Picture it. You walk into the cinema, ticket in hand for the suddenly alive again Matrix series. You watch it. Keanu beats wholesale future robot ass. It whips sack. You absolutely love it. But instead of walking out into the horrible light of day when the credits roll, you walk straight into another theatre where John Wick 4 is about to start. Keanu’s magically grown his hair and beard out in the ten seconds between flicks. He starts shooting everything in sight. You weep. It’s a great fucking day.
May 21st, 2021 mates. It’s Keanu Day. It’s a Holy day. Mark it the hell down.
