Tonight’s episode of Masterchef saw the contestants face off in a three-round team challenge in front of a live audience. And hoo boy, the crowd went wild for… everything.
Open a jar? Cheer! Chop some onions? Cheer! Poh literally blinks? Cheer! They even started those incredibly cringe-worthy cheers that we all sang at our primary school sports day. It was… a lot.
But all cheering aside, tonight’s episode taught us some things. Mostly, *burnt* cucumber is a thing.
No, not zucchini, we’re talking about the harmless salad vegetable, cucumber, that is almost exclusively served cold. Cucumber is a refreshing palate cleanser, it simply has no business being cooked. Like revenge, cucumber is a dish best served cold.
cucumber has no business being burnt, cucumber has no business being hot 🙅🏻♀️ #MasterChefAU

Even if you’re a cucumber fan, you’re probably grimacing at the thought of it being warm, let alone *burnt*.
Nothing anyone can say can convince me that burnt cucumber is good. And I love cucumber. #MasterchefAU

This is not a fucking meal. I’m no MasterChef, but burnt cucumber isn’t food. This is garbage.
Simon? It’s a burnt cucumber guys, it’s not a meal. You better start listening to Melissa- she knows. @fooderati #MasterChefAU

Isn’t burning your food the exact opposite of what you want to do?

Poh gave us a hand-crafted potato dumpling with a delicious-looking butter sauce. Meanwhile, Simon burnt a cucumber and called it a day.
Poh really served technique while Simon burnt a cucumber… like really mate #masterchefau

Fans were LIVID that this monstrosity was served on a cooking show, let alone an All Stars season.

Ultimately, Simon and his stupid burnt cucumber won the challenge, sending Poh and her green team into the third and final round of the challenge. The team faced off against each other to serve up a berry-infused dish.
