Mark Latham All But Confessed He’s @RealMarkLatham On ‘The Verdict’

The second episode of The VerdictChannel 9‘s lowbrow answer to Q&A – aired last night, and while there was considerably less shouting than the first one, noted prat Mark Latham was still on it, so calling this second episode an ‘improvement’ is stretching the term tbqh.

Except, maybe, for this: Mark Latham pretty much confessed to being the troll behind Twitter account @RealMarkLatham, which hurled abuse at prominent Australian women, including Rosie Batty and transgender Australian Defence Force member Catherine McGregor.

After Latham was basically outed as the @RealMarkLatham, he resigned from his columnist position at The Australian Financial Review, although it was never confirmed if a) this was the reason, or b) it was really him.

When The Verdict‘s debate turning to social media, host Karl Stefanovic did his absolute best to wrangle an answer out of Latham:

Karl: “Were you @TheRealMarkLatham? Was that you?”

Mark: “In November last year, and again in January last year, The Australian newspaper reported that I was tweeting. From that point on in it became a bit of a case study, with a bunch of silly journalist and some other people beating themselves up on Twitter as to is the @RealMarkLatham the real Mark Latham? It’s so farcical that people don’t know the difference between reality and fakery.”

Karl: “Was the real Mark Latham the @RealMarkLatham?”

At this point, Latham threw his hands up in the air and kinda, sorta confessed: “100% I’m here. I am the real Mark Latham.”

Or he might have said: “100% I’m here. I am the @RealMarkLatham.” We just can’t know, and we may NEVER know, but that doesn’t stop Mark Latham being an ignominious prick.

Decide for yourself whether or not he confessed:
